Baclaran Elementary School Spreads Holiday Cheer Through Tree Planting

This Christmas season, Baclaran Elementary School Central proudly participated in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) initiative to plant 236,000 trees, contributing to a greener future and a healthier environment for our children. This exciting activity took place on December 6, 2023  at Baclaran Elementary School Central, uniting students, teachers, parents, and community members in a meaningful cause.   

In line with DepEd’s mission to promote environmental awareness and sustainability, the tree planting activity not only aims to combat climate change but also instills a sense of responsibility and stewardship in our young learners. As we planted seedlings of various native tree species, our students learned about the vital role trees play in our ecosystem.       

The event began with an inspiring opening speech from our school principal, Maam Ma. Carina L. Bautista, emphasizing the importance of nurturing our environment and how each small action can lead to significant change.                       

Students participated enthusiastically, digging holes, planting trees, and watering them as they learned about different trees and their benefits to the earth. Classes were divided into teams, fostering teamwork and collaboration among students from different grade levels.

As our students took part in this tree planting activity, they embraced the true spirit of giving, realizing that we are not just planting trees, but also planting hope for a brighter and greener future. This initiative is just the beginning, as we commit to nurturing these trees and continuing our efforts to promote environmental sustainability in our school and community.
